The COVID-19 prevention protocol at the Department of Industrial Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara outlines safety measures before departure, during travel, at the office, and after returning home. Follow these guidelines to protect yourself and your surroundings from virus transmission.
1. Preparation Before Departure
If you are sick or have pre-existing conditions, it is advisable to stay home and fill in attendance remotely.
Bring your own prayer equipment.
Bring your own lunch.
If you are healthy, carry hand sanitizer and wear a mask.
2. While Traveling
If using a private car, avoid turning on the AC, always wear a mask, and ensure the car is disinfected before use.
If riding a motorcycle, wear goggles, a mask, and your personal helmet. It is recommended to wear a jacket and gloves.
If using public transportation, avoid touching your face, wear a mask, and sanitize your hands after getting off.
If using an online motorcycle taxi, wear your own helmet and mask.
3. Upon Entering the Office
Staff will check body temperature (maximum 37.5°C) and ensure mask usage. Those who do not meet the criteria must return home.
Disinfect your shoe soles.
Wash your hands with running water and soap for 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer.
4. While Working
Before starting work, disinfect your desk and work equipment, then mark attendance.
Do not borrow or lend stationery.
Use your elbow to open doors.
Students requiring academic services should interact with staff through the service counter while maintaining a safe distance.
Whenever possible, use telephone communication to minimize direct interaction.
Maintain a minimum distance of 1 meter, always wear a mask while working, and avoid meetings with more than five people.
5. When Leaving the Office
Wash your hands with running water and soap for 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer.
6. At Home
Remove your shoes before entering the house.
Take off your mask properly. If disposable, discard it immediately. If reusable, wash it along with other clothes.

Shower and change clothes before interacting with family members.
