Announcement regarding the implementation of a sustainable conservation research project on Traditional East Sumatran Malay Houses (RTM) in urban areas as an effort to preserve cultural heritage and develop adaptive conservation models supported by modern technology.

As part of efforts to support the preservation of Malay cultural heritage in East Sumatra, a research project entitled “Sustainable Conservation Approaches for the Preservation of Traditional East Sumatran Malay Houses in Urban Areas” will be conducted. This study aims to identify the existence and current condition of Traditional Malay Houses (RTM), analyze conservation challenges amid modern urban development, and formulate a sustainable conservation model that involves community participation, government policies, and the utilization of technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR).

The research activities will include field observations, interviews, building documentation, and data collection related to the architectural conditions and cultural values of Traditional Malay Houses across various regions of East Sumatra. The findings are expected to serve as a valuable reference for the preservation of traditional Malay architecture and contribute to the development of culture-based and sustainable tourism-oriented areas.

Through this research, it is anticipated that practical and adaptive conservation strategies can be developed to ensure the long-term preservation of Traditional Malay Houses while maintaining their cultural significance in rapidly evolving urban environments.
