The Undergraduate Program in Chemical Engineering at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) has maintained an ongoing collaboration with PT INALUM (Persero), the first and only aluminum smelting company in Indonesia, through various activities aimed at enhancing student competencies.

This partnership began in 2020 with the implementation of the Industrial Problem Solving Competition, which served as a platform for students to sharpen their critical thinking skills and address industrial challenges in innovative ways.

The collaboration continues under the 2024 Kampus Merdeka Competition Program (PKKM), through the implementation of Industrial Internship and Industrial Practice Lecture programs at PT INALUM. USU Chemical Engineering students are given the opportunity to be directly involved in operational and technical processes within the metal industry, while applying their academic knowledge to real-world field situations.
