The Undergraduate Program in Chemical Engineering at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) has established a strategic collaboration with Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) through two major initiatives: the World Class University (WCU) Research Program – International Alliance Research Scheme, and the Equity Project Program – PKUU-PT Scheme for QS WUR Rank 101–300. In this collaboration, Prof. Ir. Dr. Mariatti Jaafar from Universiti Sains Malaysia serves as the primary partner in the development of international collaborative research in the field of materials technology.

As part of this collaboration, an International Guest Lecture was held on November 14 and 15, 2024, at USU Chemical Engineering, featuring Prof. Mariatti Jaafar as the keynote speaker with the topic “Materials Technology and Corrosion.” This event aimed to strengthen academic and research capacity while expanding the program’s global network in the field of material engineering.
