Description
The Electric Circuit Laboratory is one of the earliest established educational laboratories in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara. Founded in 1979, this laboratory supports the Electric Circuit course with 3 credit hours (2 credits for theory and 1 credit for practical lab), offered during the first semester.
This laboratory is designed to help students gain a deeper understanding of fundamental electric circuit theories through hands-on experiments. Annually, it serves an average of 120 undergraduate students from the department’s three concentrations, divided into 24 practical groups.
Currently, six experimental modules are conducted in parallel during each session:
Kirchhoff’s Laws Experiment
Superposition and Loop Current Theory
Thevenin and Norton Theorems
Reciprocity Theorem
Maximum Power Transfer Theorem
Two-Port Network Analysis
The Electric Circuit Laboratory plays a vital role in developing students' analytical skills and their ability to apply electric circuit theories in real-world systems.
