Description

The Electrical Measurement Laboratory is one of the instructional laboratories under the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara. It plays a critical role in helping students understand the fundamental principles of electrical measurements and develop practical skills in operating electrical measuring instruments.

This laboratory supports practical sessions for courses related to electrical instrumentation and measurement techniques, providing students with hands-on experience in applying theoretical concepts to real-world electrical systems.

There are five core experiment modules conducted in this laboratory:

  1. Wheatstone Bridge – for accurate resistance measurement

  2. Earth Tester – to measure ground resistance

  3. Ohm Meter – to measure electrical resistance

  4. Instrument Calibration – to verify the accuracy of measuring devices

  5. kWh Meter Testing – to understand the operation and precision of energy meters

Through this lab, students are expected to gain essential skills in measurement techniques and develop a strong foundation in the use of electrical instruments in various engineering applications.
