Faculty of Engineering

The Environmental Biotechnology Laboratory at the Undergraduate Program in Environmental Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara, is a dedicated facility equipped with modern instruments for research, testing, and development of environmentally friendly biotechnological innovations. It supports studies focused on solving environmental issues such as water and soil contamination, industrial waste, and air pollution.

This laboratory plays a crucial role in developing biological solutions—such as microbial and bioprocess engineering approaches—to degrade and eliminate pollutants generated by human and industrial activities. As environmental challenges become increasingly complex, the laboratory contributes significantly to sustainable and eco-friendly technological advancements.

The laboratory also supports the Environmental Microbiology course (TEL1204), which equips students with essential knowledge of microbial interactions with the environment and their applications in pollution control.
