Description

The Hydraulics Laboratory of the Civil Engineering Program at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) serves as a key facility for education and scientific advancement in fluid mechanics and water resources engineering. It offers a range of practicum modules designed to enhance students’ understanding of both fundamental and applied hydraulics.

The practicum topics include hydrostatic force measurement on plane surfaces, determination of metacentric height on floating bodies, the Osborn Reynolds experiment to observe flow regime transitions, drag force measurement, flow over notches, open channel flow, and flow through orifices.

These hands-on experiments aim to bridge theoretical concepts with practical application, equipping students with the technical skills necessary for analyzing and testing fluid flow systems. The laboratory supports the development of student competencies in hydraulics for both academic and applied research purposes.
