The Undergraduate Program in Chemical Engineering at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) has collaborated with PT Pelindo in implementing activities focused on community empowerment and the enhancement of student learning facilities.
One tangible outcome of this collaboration is the Training on the Production of Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) and Soap, aimed at optimizing the natural resources of Nias Island to support MSME empowerment. This activity took place from September 4 to 6, 2023, at CV. Artasari, USU Medan Campus, and involved USU Chemical Engineering faculty members and students as part of a community service initiative grounded in scientific competence.
In addition, PT Pelindo also supported the construction of the USU Chemical Engineering Joglo, which serves as a learning facility and student discussion space. The Joglo stands as a symbol of synergy between industry and academia in creating an inclusive, inspiring, and collaborative learning environment.
