The Undergraduate Program in Chemical Engineering at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) has established a strategic collaboration with PT Semen Padang, one of the largest and oldest cement producers in Indonesia, to support the implementation of the 2024 Kampus Merdeka Competition Program (PKKM).

Through this collaboration, USU Chemical Engineering students participate in the Industrial Internship and Industrial Practice Lecture programs directly at PT Semen Padang's production facilities. This activity provides valuable experience for students to gain real-world insights into cement manufacturing processes and to develop technical and professional skills aligned with industry demands.

In addition, PT Semen Padang contributes to academic activities through thesis supervision collaboration. One of the company’s engineers, Ir. Durain Parmanoan, S.T., M.T., IPM., serves as a Thesis Co-Supervisor for USU Chemical Engineering students, further strengthening the synergy between academic theory and industrial practice.
