The Undergraduate Program in Chemical Engineering at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) has established a collaboration with Universitas Muhammadiyah Riau (UMRI) through a range of academic activities aimed at enhancing the quality of education and student development.

On November 13, 2023, USU Chemical Engineering faculty members Prof. Dr. Ir. Fatimah, M.T. and Ir. Erni Misran, S.T., M.T., Ph.D. were invited as guest lecturers at UMRI, delivering a session on “Enhancing Student Competence for the Student Creativity Program (PKM).” The lecture aimed to provide insights and practical strategies to help UMRI students become more competitive in national-level PKM competitions.

As a follow-up to this collaboration, on May 28, 2025, the Chemical Engineering Program at UMRI conducted an academic visit to USU’s Chemical Engineering Department to strengthen the partnership and explore further opportunities for synergy in curriculum development, research, and the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program.
