The Undergraduate Program in Chemical Engineering at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) has established a collaboration with Universitas Negeri Medan (UNIMED) to support the enhancement of vocational education quality in Indonesia.

As part of this collaboration, USU Chemical Engineering faculty members—Prof. Ir. Maya Sarah, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., IPM; Ir. Erni Misran, S.T., M.T., Ph.D.; and Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Irvan, M.Si.—served as instructors in the national certification preparation program for vocational high school (SMK) chemistry teachers, conducted between 2020 and 2021.

This initiative aimed to strengthen the professional competencies of SMK chemistry teachers and support certification processes based on expertise and industry standards. The collaboration reflects USU Chemical Engineering's active contribution to human resource development in science and technology education at the national level.
