The Undergraduate Program in Chemical Engineering at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) has established a collaboration with the University of Kitakyushu, Japan, through the USU Equity Project for the development of Scientific Clusters. This partnership involves Prof. Toru Matsumoto from the University of Kitakyushu as the main partner in joint research activities in the fields of environment and sustainable education.

In addition, the collaboration also includes the development of an Environmental Education Teacher’s Guidebook for elementary, junior high, and senior high school levels, aimed at supporting the enhancement of environmental literacy and awareness in primary and secondary education.

This initiative is part of the program’s efforts toward internationalization and strengthening the academic contribution of USU’s Chemical Engineering Program in supporting sustainable development through globally-scaled research and community engagement.
