Prof. Dr. Ir. Meilita Tryana Sembiring, S.T., M.T., was born in Medan on May 3, 1970, and works as a lecturer in the Department of Industrial Engineering and the Master's Program in Management at Universitas Sumatera Utara. She is commonly known as Meilita and specializes in studies related to Industrial Engineering and Management, including Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, Data Mining, Manufacturing Systems, as well as the Design, Maintenance, and Repair of Machinery and Auxiliary Equipment.
Meilita earned her Doctorate from the Bogor Agricultural University in 2015. She has also participated in training for the Higher Education Development Support (HEDS) Project in Indonesia at Toyohashi University of Technology in Nagoya, Japan. Her primary research interest is in Supply Chain Management (SCM), with one of her studies focusing on the "Business Model of the Palm Oil-Based Biodiesel Supply Chain." In this study, she developed models and applied technology to address issues within the supply chain.
As an innovator, Meilita has implemented her expertise by creating applications that facilitate online learning activities. Additionally, she is involved in developing technology aimed at helping the community with easier methods for drying clothes.
Meilita has been recognized with the Satyalancana Karya Satya XX Year 2022 award from the President of the Republic of Indonesia. Currently, she serves as the Head of the Master's Program in Management and is actively involved in international organizations such as IEOM, as well as serving as the Chair of the Industrial Engineering Cooperation Agency (BKSTI) for the North Sumatra-Aceh Region.
