Prof. Ir. Morida Siagian, MURP, Ph.D., was born in Yogyakarta on August 2, 1960. She is a faculty member at the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara, with a strong academic background in architecture and urban planning. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Architecture from Institut Teknologi Bandung, a Master's degree in Urban Planning from Ball State University, and a Ph.D. in Urban Planning from Universiti Sains Malaysia.
As an educator, Prof. Morida teaches across multiple academic levels, from undergraduate courses at the Department of Architecture to the Master’s Program in Architectural Engineering at USU and the Doctoral Program in Architecture and Urban Studies at USU. Her teaching is enriched by her extensive professional experience, having been a practitioner since 1984.
Beyond academia, she is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Indonesian Institute of Architects (IAI), the Indonesian Built Environment Research Association (IPLBI), the Institution of Engineers Indonesia (PII), and the ITB Alumni Association of North Sumatra. Prof. Morida frequently publishes her research in journals and books and has been a keynote speaker at national and international seminars, particularly on social space in housing and urban environments. One of her notable contributions is her role as a research partner for Kampung Ulos Huta Raja in Samosir.
