The Community Service (PkM) Team introduced an appropriate technology innovation for goat farmers in Bandar Tinggi Village, Bandar Masilam District, Simalungun Regency.
Through the implementation of a feed chopper machine and the improvement of forage feeding patterns, this activity successfully increased goat milk production while enhancing farmers’ welfare. The use of the feed chopper helped farmers prepare more uniform and higher-quality feed, while the improved feeding pattern provided optimal nutrition for goats, resulting in higher milk yields.
The activity included training on feed chopper operation, proper feeding techniques, and technical assistance for local farmer groups. The program also encouraged the formation of joint business groups to market goat milk products with higher quality and economic value.
Objectives of the Community Service Program:
Provide PE dairy goat stock.
Supply a livestock feed chopper machine compatible with HPT as an implementation of capstone design technology from the Bachelor’s Program in Mechanical Engineering.
Conduct training on operation, maintenance, and small-medium enterprise (SME) management.
Apply concentrated feed to increase fresh milk production.
Benefits of the Community Service Program:
Provide solutions to the problems faced by farmer groups in goat livestock management.
Improve community understanding of feed chopper maintenance and operation.
