The Mechanical Engineering Alumni Association of Universitas Sumatera Utara (IKATM-USU) Jabodetabek held a book discussion on From the Perspective of Strategic Management: Knowledge, Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The discussion, featuring the book by Dr. Ir. Manerep Pasaribu, was held at JW Marriott Hotel on Saturday, October 22, 2016.
M-USU, stated that sharing knowledge and insights in a familial atmosphere is a key commitment of the alumni of Universitas Sumatera Utara’s Mechanical Engineering program. "This meeting is expected to make alumni, both young and senior, stronger, more determined, and more confident to create breakthroughs in their businesses," said Helman. He also emphasized the extraordinary value of support from academics and practitioners within the alumni network. "For Mechanical Engineering alumni of Universitas Sumatera Utara, particularly in the Jabodetabek area, who have yet to reconnect, the door for communication is wide open to rebuild Solidarity Mesin Forever," he added.
The event featured panelists such as Dr. Ir. Jonner Napitupulu (USU Academic), Ir. Bambang Eka Chayana (President Director of PT Pelindo I), and Ir. Jamsaton Nababan (Development Director of PT Pertamina EP Cepu). Dr. Ir. Manerep Pasaribu explained that his book aims to foster new entrepreneurs to contribute to national development. "This book is primarily for teaching students and, secondly, to create entrepreneurs who can build the nation—that’s the key," said Manerep. He highlighted entrepreneurship growth rates in other countries, such as the United States (11%), China (10%), and Malaysia (3%), compared to Indonesia’s low rate of just 1.65%. "We need more entrepreneurs in Indonesia because they are the ones who can make the nation progress," he emphasized.
Dr. Ir. Jonner Napitupulu also praised the book, saying, "This book provides practical guidance on how to start and run a business, offering solutions for entrepreneurs."
