ChemInnova EXPO 2025 is designed as a platform for students to showcase research outcomes, innovative products, prototypes, and appropriate technologies developed through coursework, research projects, the Student Creativity Program (PKM), engineering design projects, and academic competitions. The exhibition is expected to strengthen the culture of research, creativity, and innovation within the Undergraduate Chemical Engineering Study Program at FT USU.

The exhibition will feature projects in a wide range of fields, including waste treatment, renewable energy, environmentally friendly materials, functional foods, biotechnology, process engineering, and value-added chemical products. This diversity highlights the broad applications of chemical engineering in addressing industrial challenges, societal needs, and sustainable development.
The event will include an opening ceremony, innovation exhibitions, product presentations, discussion and evaluation sessions with a panel of judges, and an award presentation for the best projects. The exhibition is designed to engage Chemical Engineering students, members of the academic community, industry partners, and the general public as a forum for knowledge exchange and for introducing student innovations to key stakeholders.
Through the presentation and discussion sessions, students are expected to enhance their scientific communication skills, critical thinking, professionalism, and confidence in presenting their work. The expo also provides early opportunities for further development, research commercialization pathways, collaboration, and technology-based entrepreneurship, while recognizing that the exhibited works remain research outputs, prototypes, or conceptual innovations rather than commercially available products.

ChemInnova EXPO 2025 contributes directly to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) by promoting project-based learning and strengthening student competencies. The event also supports SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) by disseminating innovative products and prototypes, and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by promoting technopreneurship and highlighting the value-added potential of engineering innovations.
The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara, remains committed to providing educational, research, and innovation platforms that encourage students to develop engineering-based solutions. Through initiatives such as ChemInnova EXPO 2025, FT USU continues to foster creative, adaptive, and socially responsible engineering talent capable of contributing to sustainable development.
