Medan, August 12, 2026 — The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FT USU), participated in the first day of the 2026 USU Campus Life Introduction Program for New Students (PKKMB). Starting at 6:00 a.m. WIB, FT USU’s new students gathered at the FISIP USU Twin Field. Despite intermittent rain, the participants remained enthusiastic and took part in the opening activities.

The university-level agenda featured remarks from USU Rector Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si.; Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni; and representatives of the Board of Trustees. The agenda continued with the official opening ceremony of PKKMB USU 2026.

After the activities at the FISIP USU Twin Field concluded, FT USU’s new students were directed to the Faculty of Engineering. The faculty-level welcoming session involved the Dean of FT USU, Prof. Dr. Ir. Renita Manurung, M.T.; Vice Dean for Education, Student Affairs, and Alumni, Prof. Dr. Ir. Rosdanelli Hasibuan, M.T.; Vice Dean for Administration, Finance, Human Resources, and Academic Infrastructure, Ir. Muhammad Agung Putra Handana, S.T., M.T.; and Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalization, Zaid Perdana Nasution, S.T., M.T., Ph.D.

The first day of PKKMB provided new students with an initial opportunity to become familiar with the faculty’s institutional structure, study programs, and learning environment, all of which will form an important part of their academic journey.

The activity primarily supports SDG 4: Quality Education through the introduction of the academic environment and educational services to new students. It is also relevant to SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions through the structured introduction of institutional structures, governance, and campus life mechanisms.

FT USU is committed to organizing PKKMB activities that are informative, orderly, safe, and supportive of new students’ adaptation to higher education.
