Medan, September 24, 2026. In line with the program of the leadership of Universitas Sumatera Utara, the Faculty of Engineering USU held the “Mentor–Mentee” Lecturer Mentoring activity for Publication Improvement at the Smartclass Room of the Undergraduate Program in Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering USU, as a mentoring forum for lecturers within the faculty.

The activity was attended by Zaid Perdana Nasution, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalization; and Emma Patricia Bangun, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., Manager of Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalization. Both were part of the management team coordinating the publication improvement agenda at the faculty level.

Through the Mentor–Mentee scheme, the activity was designed as a space for mentoring and academic interaction to support lecturers in improving their publications and as part of strengthening publication capacity within the Faculty of Engineering USU. This mentoring is expected to help lecturers develop their scientific writing and publication processes in a more structured manner.

This activity primarily supports SDG 4 – Quality Education through strengthening lecturer capacity and a research-based academic culture. SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure is also relevant through encouragement of knowledge development, research, and scientific publications.

The Faculty of Engineering USU is committed to strengthening the lecturer publication ecosystem through structured mentoring as part of efforts to improve academic quality and institutional reputation.
