Medan - October 15, 2026, Leadership of the Faculty of Engineering USU received representatives from the Islamic Students Association of the Faculty of Engineering USU in a coordination meeting to discuss the preparation of the Welcome Fun House event. The meeting served as a communication space between faculty leadership and students to ensure the agenda is prepared in a targeted manner while paying attention to safety aspects during implementation.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Ir. Renita Manurung, M.T (Dean of FT USU) along with Fitri Rowiyah Rambe, S.T., M.T., (Manager of Administration, Finance, Human Resources, and Academic Infrastructure). Representatives of HMI FT-USU conveyed event plans along with several needs related to the execution of the agenda.
The discussion focused on preparations for the Welcome Fun House HMI FT-USU, including technical execution coordination, venue readiness, and the planned series of activities. This meeting was part of efforts to ensure student activities proceed in an orderly manner while remaining aligned with applicable regulations within the Faculty of Engineering USU environment.
One agenda item that will be part of the activity is an Occupational Health and Safety (K3) seminar. The inclusion of K3 material is expected to provide participants with an understanding of the importance of safety, health, and risk awareness across various activities, particularly in educational settings and engineering activities.
For engineering students, knowledge of K3 holds strong relevance as safety aspects form a crucial component in laboratory activities, field practice, and professional activities in the industrial world. The seminar is expected to reinforce student awareness that applying safety principles needs to be built starting from higher education environments.
During the meeting, faculty leadership also provided space for students to present their activity plans directly. Communication between faculty leadership and student organizations is vital to establish good coordination while encouraging the implementation of student activities that are educational, responsible, and beneficial for participants.
FT USU continues to support student activities that can serve as spaces for capacity building, leadership, creativity, and student concern for safety aspects. Through coordination conducted right from the preparation stage, every activity is expected to run in a more planned manner and deliver positive experiences for all participants.
This activity is primarily related to SDG 16—Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions through dialogue, participation, and coordination between student organizations and faculty leadership. SDG 4—Quality Education serves as an additional contribution through strengthening guidance and student organizational experience.
