On the first day of the 2026 Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) at the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FT USU), the faculty conducted Session IV with the theme “Strengthening the Character of High-Achieving Students with a Global Competitiveness Orientation.”
Class A, held at the FT USU Hall, featured Zaid Perdana Nasution, S.T., M.T., Ph.D.; Class B at Room J09.102 featured Prof. Dr. Ir. Tulus Burhanuddin Sitorus, S.T., M.T., IPM.; Class C at Room J09.103 featured Ir. Suprianto, S.T., M.T., Ph.D.; and Class D at Room J09.110 featured Prof. Dr. Ir. Anizar, M.Kes., IPU., ASEAN Eng.

Class E at Room J09.111 featured Ir. Syarvina, S.T., M.T.; Class F at the IKATSI Civil Engineering facility featured Dr. Ir. Andri Nasution, S.T., M.T., IPM., ASEAN Eng.; while Class G at the Civil Engineering Smart Classroom featured Wahyu Abdillah, S.T., M.T. The involvement of these speakers provided new students with perspectives on character development and readiness to face global competition.
Session IV focused on strengthening the character of high-achieving students with a global competitiveness orientation. In the context of higher education, the theme highlighted the importance of continuous self-development, a strong learning ethic, responsibility, and readiness to interact in diverse academic and professional environments.

The activity primarily supports SDG 4: Quality Education through character development and student capacity building. The focus on global competitiveness is also relevant to SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by introducing the importance of developing the competencies and character needed to enter professional environments in the future.
FT USU remains committed to supporting students in developing academically, building strong character, becoming adaptable, and embracing responsibility in facing global challenges.
