MEDAN, 15 July 2026 – To strengthen lecturers' digital teaching competencies, the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FT USU), in collaboration with the Directorate of Learning Digitalization (DitDP), organized a Basic Learning Management System (LMS) Workshop for lecturers across the Faculty.
The workshop was officially opened by Prof. Dr. Ir. Rosdanelli Hasibuan, M.T., Vice Dean for Education, Student Affairs, and Alumni. The opening session was followed by a presentation on the fundamental use of the USU Learning Management System (LMS) through kelas.usu.ac.id, delivered by Ryandika Afdila, S.T., M.Eng.Sc. Participants were introduced to the platform's core features and essential procedures for managing online learning effectively.
The workshop continued with hands-on training sessions, allowing participants to create and manage online courses, upload teaching materials, organize learning activities, and utilize various LMS features that support digital instruction. Guidance provided by the Directorate of Learning Digitalization team enabled lecturers to gain practical experience in applying the LMS to their teaching practices.
The training is expected to help lecturers maximize the use of the LMS in delivering more effective, interactive, and well-documented learning experiences. Its long-term impact on teaching quality will depend on the consistent application of the knowledge and skills acquired during the workshop in managing academic courses.
The initiative contributes directly to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education by strengthening educators' digital competencies and promoting the effective integration of technology into teaching and learning. It also supports SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure through the adoption of digital infrastructure that facilitates innovation and the transformation of higher education.
