Deli Serdang, July 22, 2026 – Dr. Anthoni Veery Mardianta, S.T., M.T., IAP., CIIQA, a lecturer from the Urban and Regional Planning Program, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FT USU), served as a keynote speaker at the First Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on the Revision of the Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW) and the Kick-Off Meeting for the Strategic Environmental Assessment (KLHS). The event was organized by the Deli Serdang Regency Office of Public Works, Human Settlements, and Spatial Planning and held at the Cendana Hall, First Floor, Deli Serdang Regent's Office.

During the forum, Dr. Anthoni Veery Mardianta delivered a presentation entitled "A Conceptual Framework for Revising the Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW) of Deli Serdang Regency." His presentation emphasized the importance of integrating spatial planning, regional development, environmental carrying capacity, and alignment with national and regional development policies. The proposed framework is intended to support the formulation of a revised RTRW and the preparation of a Strategic Environmental Assessment that is more responsive to regional development dynamics, community needs, and the principles of sustainable development.

This academic contribution primarily supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities by providing expert input for regional spatial planning. The integration of the Strategic Environmental Assessment (KLHS) also contributes to SDG 13: Climate Action by promoting environmentally informed planning, while the collaboration between Universitas Sumatera Utara and the Deli Serdang Regency Government advances SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through knowledge-based cooperation between academia and the public sector.
