Medan, July 24, 2026 – The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FT USU), welcomed an academic delegation from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). The visit formed part of ongoing inter-institutional engagement aimed at introducing each institution's academic strengths and exploring opportunities for future collaboration.
The UKM delegation was received by Prof. Dr. Ir. Renita Manurung, M.T., Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara, together with Prof. Ar. Ir. Nurlisa Ginting, M.Sc., Ph.D., IAI. The visiting delegation was represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Asrul Mahjuddin Ressang Aminuddin, Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture and Built Environment, Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

The meeting brought together academic leaders and faculty members from both institutions in a constructive dialogue on academic development and institutional cooperation. It provided an initial platform for both universities to exchange information on their academic profiles, institutional capacities, and areas of expertise with the potential for future collaboration.
The discussions opened opportunities to further develop academic relations through knowledge exchange, collaborative teaching and learning, joint research, scientific publications, academic mobility, and other collaborative initiatives. However, these potential areas of cooperation remain at the exploratory stage and will require further discussion between the two institutions.
The visit reflects FT USU's commitment to expanding its international network and strengthening academic collaboration with overseas universities. Institutional engagement of this kind also serves as an important step in promoting the exchange of ideas and enhancing academic capacity in engineering and the built environment.
