The Faculty of Engineering USU handed over a Smart Garbage Electric Vehicle, developed under TALENTA research, to the USU Research Institution to support integrated waste management on campus.

On Thursday, April 10, 2025, the Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Sumatera Utara officially handed over one unit of a Smart Garbage Electric Vehicle (1.5-ton capacity) to the USU Research Institution. The vehicle, developed by the Smart Garbage EV Team, is equipped with real-time monitoring sensors and a hydraulic mechanical system designed to support integrated waste management across the Universitas Sumatera Utara campus.

 

The handover ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Ir. Fahmi, S.T., M.Sc., IPM. (Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, USU), and Dr. Ir. M. Sabri, M.T., IPM., Asean Eng. (Team Leader), who directly handed over the vehicle to Prof. Dr. Robert Sibarani, M.S. (Head of the USU Research Institution), and Prof. Dr. Syafruddin Ilyas, M.Biomed. (Secretary of the USU Research Institution), accompanied by faculty members from various engineering disciplines.

 

This Smart Garbage Electric Vehicle is the outcome of the TALENTA Research Program under the Strategic Study Research Assignment Scheme, conducted by the USU Research Institution in 2025. The prototype will continue to be developed in the future.
