Medan – On September 26, 2026, the Industrial Engineering Student Association of the Faculty of Engineering USU (HIMTI FT USU) held the Industrial Parents Gathering 2026 at the FT USU Hall, carrying the theme “Together in Their Journey.”
The event brought together parents of students from the 2025 and 2026 cohorts with faculty members, representatives of the Industrial Engineering Study Program, HIMTI FT USU, and the Head of POMA Industrial Engineering USU, Alihadi. This forum served as an orientation space for understanding the academic and student life experienced by students during their period of study.
The Head of the Industrial Engineering Study Program, Dr. Tuti Sarma Sinaga, S.T., M.T., CPLM., delivered a presentation titled “Career Opportunities and Graduate Profiles of Industrial Engineering.” The talk highlighted prospective career paths for graduates across various sectors, including manufacturing, energy, mining, logistics, banking, technology, and services.
The discussion also emphasized experiential learning outside the classroom through student organizations, event committees, internships, practical work, research, competitions, and personal development activities. Parental support was positioned as an essential element in guiding students to recognize their potential, foster independence, and prepare for their future career directions.

The series of events continued with a Q&A session, an Industrial Engineering Study Program memory walkthrough, and a laboratory tour. Through these activities, parents had the opportunity to observe the academic environment, learning facilities, and developmental activities supporting their children's educational process.
This activity primarily relates to SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the strengthening of communication and mentorship in higher education. SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) is relevant through insights provided into graduate profiles and the professional world, while SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) is reflected in the synergy built between the study program, HIMTI, POMA, and student parents.
