Medan - October 18, 2026, HMI Commissariat Faculty of Engineering USU held the Welcome Fun House at the FT USU Hall, which was attended by Muslim male and female students from 10 Study Programs within the Faculty of Engineering.

The Welcome Fun House serves as a welcoming space and initial orientation for students to build closeness, expand networks, and understand values that support academic and organizational life. This event places character development as part of the student education process outside formal lectures.

The series of orientation sessions presented Islamic and HMI-related materials. These materials discussed Islamic values in student life while providing an introduction to the roles, orientations, and activities of the HMI organization.

Participants also attended sessions on Student Affairs and Indonesian Nationalism. This session was directed at broadening understanding regarding the position of students, social responsibility, and the role of the youth in campus, community, and national life.

As a special session, the event featured a certified Occupational Health and Safety (K3) Seminar in collaboration with PT Safindo Teknik Raya. The seminar introduced safety principles, risk prevention, and a responsible work culture as preparation for laboratory practicals, industrial environments, and the professional world.

This activity is primarily related to SDG 4—Quality Education through character building and student insight development outside formal learning. SDG 8—Decent Work and Economic Growth serves as an additional contribution through introducing occupational health and safety principles as the foundation for a safe and responsible work environment.
