The Faculty of Engineering at USU installed a solar-powered water pump at Pondok Pesantren UMAR BIN AL KHATHTHAB as part of a community service project. This initiative helps the pesantren reduce electricity costs and supports the use of eco-friendly technology.

Faculty members from the USU Faculty of Engineering involved students in community service by installing a solar-powered water pump at Pondok Pesantren UMAR BIN AL KHATHTHAB, located at Jalan Durung 1, Medan Terjun, Medan Marelan District, Medan City. This community service activity, funded by the USU Community Service Fund, is part of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, applying solar panel technology to provide electricity from a Solar Power Plant (PLTS) to operate the water pump at the pesantren.

The team carrying out this service consisted of four faculty members from the Faculty of Engineering USU: Ir. Ferry Rahmat Astianta Bukit, S.T., M.T., Ir. Arman Sani, M.T., Ryandika Afdila, S.T., M.Eng.Sc., and Ivo Andika Hasugian, S.T., M.T., along with six students from the Electrical Engineering program.

The team handed over the PLTS system to the pesantren management for proper use. The pesantren management expressed their gratitude for this activity, especially to the team that carried out the community service, as it greatly helped reduce the electricity costs they had to incur each month.
