On January 30–31, 2026, the Electrical Engineering Study Program of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), in collaboration with the IEEE Indonesia Section, conducted an International Community Service Program across three locations:

  1. Cempa Village (Langkat Regency, North Sumatra Province)
  2. Kota Lintang (Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh Province)
  3. Badiri District (Central Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra Province)


The community service activities carried out included:

  1. Installation of two (2) drinking water-grade filtration units with a capacity of 1,000 liters/hour in Cempa Village
  2. Construction of two (2) drilled wells in Kota Lintang
  3. Construction of four (4) drilled wells in Badiri District

The Faculty of Engineering, USU, continues to implement rehabilitation and reconstruction programs in disaster-affected areas to support the restoration and recovery of infrastructure, the environment, and the livelihoods of impacted communities, enabling them to function effectively once again.

This initiative was supported by the IEEE Communications Society Chapter, Circuits and Systems Society Chapter, MTT/AP Joint Chapter, Joint Chapter Instrumentation and Measurement (IM09) and Information Theory, Joint Chapter Vehicular Technology (VT06) and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS38) (CH10930), PES, AES/GRSS, SMC, Consumer Technology (CTSOC) Indonesia, CSS/RAS Joint Chapter, Electron Devices Society Chapter, and was conducted in collaboration with the USU Emergency Response Post (Posko USU).
