The International Summer Course (ISC) 2023, organized by the Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), was held from August 28 to September 1, 2023, under the theme "Applicable Product Design to Support SDGs". The event was officially opened and closed by Prof. Dr. apt. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, M.Si., Vice Rector III of USU, Dr. Ir. Fahmi, S.T., M.Sc., IPM., Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Ir. Aulia Ishak, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., IPM., Head of the Industrial Engineering Study Program. ISC 2023 brought together 31 participants from Indonesia, Malaysia, and India, along with five renowned international keynote speakers.
The keynote speakers included Prof. Abdul Talib Bon (Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia), Prof. Akshay Dvivedi (Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee), Dr. Suriati Binti Akmal (Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka), Dr. Denni Kurniawan (Universiti Teknologi Brunei), and Dr. Ahmad Faiz Zubairi (Universiti Teknologi MARA). Participants engaged in activities such as lectures, workshops, and assignments, enhancing their understanding of product design aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals. Additionally, the program offered an immersive learning experience through a study excursion to the Inalum Siguragura Hydropower Plant in Toba Samosir Regency. ISC 2023 exemplified the Faculty of Engineering's dedication to fostering global collaboration and sustainable innovation.
