The International Summer Course 2023 by USU Faculty of Engineering focuses on agroindustry innovations for sustainable agricultural development. Participants from 4 countries joined this engaging program.
The International Summer Course 2023, hosted by the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), was held from September 4 to 9, 2023. This event carried the theme “Agroindustry Innovation to Increase Production and Support Sustainable Agricultural Development in the Era of Disruption.” It was officially closed by the Vice Rector III of Universitas Sumatera Utara, Prof. Dr. apt. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, M.Si., along with the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Ir. Fahmi, S.T., M.Sc., IPM., and the Head of the Industrial Engineering Program and Chairperson of ISC 2023, Ir. Aulia Ishak, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., IPM.
The event was attended by 76 participants from four countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and India. Four international keynote speakers graced the event: Dr. Hasnida Binti AB Samat from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nikorn Sirivongpaisal from Prince of Songkla University, Thailand, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pramodkumar S. Kataraki from Reva University, India, and Ir. Nazaruddin, M.T., Ph.D., from Universitas Sumatera Utara. The event was moderated by Ir. Rahmi Meilina Sari, S.T., MM(T), and also attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jamaluddin Abdullah, Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia.
The International Summer Course 2023 featured various activities, including keynote speeches, workshops, and assignments. Participants also joined study excursions to PT Perkebunan Nusantara IV PKS Adolina in Serdang Bedagai Regency and PT Industri Nabati Lestari in Sei Mangkei, Simalungun Regency.
