The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara held the TALENTA CEST-5 International Conference with Dr. Eng. Taufiq Bin Nur from Mechanical Engineering as the keynote speaker, presenting the potential of cofiring biomass with coal to reduce fossil energy dependence in Indonesia.
The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara, successfully hosted the 5th TALENTA CEST International Conference at Grandika Hotel Medan. One of the faculty members from the Mechanical Engineering Program, Dr. Eng. Taufiq Bin Nur, S.T., M.Eng.Sc., participated as a keynote speaker.
Sharing the stage with presenters from the United States, Dr. Taufiq delivered a presentation on his research titled "Potential of Cofiring Biomass with Coal for Reducing Dependence on Fossil Fuels in Indonesia."
In his presentation, Dr. Taufiq provided an insightful overview of the potential for utilizing biomass, particularly waste biomass from palm oil mills in the vicinity of North Sumatra. He discussed the characteristics of cofiring coal with palm kernel shells in fouling formation and the performance of combustors using biochar as fuel through the pyrolysis process.
This conference serves as a platform for exchanging ideas and fostering collaboration among researchers and experts in engineering and technology from around the globe.
