The Undergraduate Program in Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FT USU), held the Mechanical Expo on September 7–8, 2026, at the Multipurpose Hall of the Faculty of Engineering USU. The two-day series of activities included presentations, participant interactions, and assessment sessions.

The first presentation, entitled “Beyond the Motion: Transformasi Teknologi, Digitalisasi & Inovasi di PT Perkebunan Nusantara IV,” was delivered by Fitra Rainaldy, S.T. The session introduced the context of technological transformation and innovation in plantation industry activities.

Participants also gained insights into the national aluminum processing industry through a presentation by Rainaldy Harahap from PT INALUM. Meanwhile, Ahmad Qurthubi Ashshiddieqy from PT Pelindo delivered a presentation entitled “Beyond the Motion: The Solution Architecture,” which expanded the discussion on solution design in an industrial environment.

The assessment series involved Dr. Ir. Rahmi M. Sari, S.T., M.T., Trio Pahlawan, S.T., M.T., and Ir. Suprianto, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., as judges. The documentation shows participant involvement in the activity, but the materials do not include the assessment categories or list of winners; therefore, competition achievements are not stated.

Mechanical Expo primarily supports SDG 4 – Quality Education through learning outside the classroom and strengthening students' understanding of industrial developments. Discussions on technology, digitalization, and innovation are related to SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, while the involvement of higher education institutions and industry practitioners reflects SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals.

The Faculty of Engineering USU is committed to expanding students' learning experiences through academic forums that are relevant to technological developments and industry needs. The knowledge gained is expected to serve as a foundation for students to develop their competencies, work, and engineering solutions responsibly.
