Medan – On October 26, 2026, the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FT USU), conducted its regular Morning Assembly (Apel Pagi). The Environmental Engineering Study Program served as the organizing host, with Dr. Amir Husin, S.T., M.T., acting as the ceremony leader (pembina apel).

In his address, Dr. Amir Husin emphasized that producing outstanding graduates is a collective responsibility across all units within the faculty. Every institutional element plays a vital role in fostering an educational ecosystem that nurtures student development and academic excellence.

The direction highlighted project-based learning and collaborative research prior to graduation as essential academic approaches. Both methodologies enable students to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world problems while developing critical problem-solving skills and teamwork capabilities.

Furthermore, instructional quality requires robust support from integrated administrative services and reliable campus infrastructure. These elements serve as the foundation for optimizing lectures, practical projects, and research endeavors across the faculty.

Through the morning assembly, the academic community was urged to collectively guide students toward becoming competent, ethical, and industry-ready graduates. The address serves as an institutional directive to continuously enhance educational processes and graduate readiness for professional standard certifications.

This initiative directly aligns with Sustainable Development Goals SDG 4 (Quality Education) by reinforcing project-based learning, collaborative research, and supportive educational infrastructure, as well as SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) through its focus on professional certifications, graduate competencies, and workforce readiness.
