The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FT USU), delivered Material III as part of the first day of PKKMB FT USU 2026 on August 12, 2026. The session was themed “Transformation of Higher Education in the Digital Era, Industrial Revolution, and Society 5.0: Strengthening Academic Literacy and Innovation.”

Class A, held in the FT USU Hall, featured Dr. Ir. Soeharwinto, S.T., M.T.; Class B in Room J09.102 featured Prof. Ir. Yulianta Siregar, S.T., M.T., Ph.D.Eng., IPM.; Class C in Room J09.103 featured Dr. Ir. Ahmad Shalihin, S.T., M.T.; and Class D in Room J09.110 featured Ar. Novi Rahmadhani, S.T., M.T., IAI.

Meanwhile, Class E in Room J09.111 featured Dr. Ing. Ir. Ikhwansyah Isranuri; Class F at IKATSI Civil Engineering featured Farida Hanum, S.T., M.T.; and Class G in the Civil Engineering Smart Classroom featured Isnen Fitri, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D.

Material III introduced new students to changes in higher education driven by digital development, the need for new forms of literacy, and the importance of academic innovation. The discussion emphasized that the ability to utilize technology should be accompanied by critical thinking, continuous learning, and readiness to adapt to change.

The activity primarily supports SDG 4: Quality Education by strengthening students’ literacy and understanding of transformations in higher education. The focus on innovation and technological development is also relevant to SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure through the introduction of an innovation-oriented culture and technological adaptation.

FT USU remains committed to promoting learning that is adaptive to technological developments, critical, and oriented toward strengthening students’ capacity.
