On September 24, 2019, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) hosted an academic engagement event in collaboration with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The event aimed to introduce various scholarship opportunities for doctoral and postdoctoral studies in Germany, targeting lecturers and students at USU. One of the attendees was Prof. Dr. Ing. Johannes Tarigan, a faculty member of the Faculty of Engineering and an alumnus of a German university, whose presence underscored the important role alumni play in fostering international academic networks.
The event featured presentations and an interactive discussion with DAAD representatives, providing in-depth insights into funding schemes, application processes, and the academic environment in Germany. It also served to strengthen ties between USU and German higher education institutions, while encouraging more USU scholars to pursue international academic advancement. This initiative reflects USU’s ongoing commitment to educational internationalization and global collaboration.
