Medan, August 13, 2026 — The second day of PKKMB FT USU 2026 began with a morning assembly. Vice Dean for Education, Student Affairs, and Alumni of FT USU, Prof. Dr. Ir. Rosdanelli Hasibuan, M.T., served as the assembly supervisor before the new students continued with classroom sessions.

The classroom sessions formed part of the introduction to academic and campus life according to each group of new students. In the afternoon, the second day of PKKMB continued with occupational safety and health training involving the Fire Department.

During the K3L training, students received explanations and hands-on practice related to several safety situations, including extinguishing fires using wet cloths, operating fire hydrants, responding to gas leaks, and learning basic procedures for handling dangerous animals such as snakes. The activities provided students with direct experience in understanding initial responses to emergencies.

The involvement of the Fire Department strengthened the practical learning component of the PKKMB program. For new engineering students, early exposure to safety procedures can serve as a foundation for developing a risk-aware culture in academic activities, laboratories, and fieldwork.

The activity primarily supports SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being through safety education and emergency preparedness. It is also relevant to SDG 4: Quality Education, as the training integrates contextual learning and practical safety education into the new student orientation process.
