The Chemical Engineering Department of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), in collaboration with the USU Chemical Engineering Student Association (HIMATEK), held a virtual PKM Socialization and PKM Clinic Opening on Thursday, January 14, 2021. The event was attended by Chemical Engineering students from various academic years. The keynote speaker for the PKM Socialization was Viqry Pramananda, a 2017 USU Chemical Engineering student and a bronze medalist in the PKM-Entrepreneurship presentation category at the 33rd PIMNAS.

The event began with an opening by the MC, a prayer, and welcoming remarks from the Head of the Chemical Engineering Department, Ir. Maya Sarah, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., IPM, who officially launched the PKM Socialization and PKM Clinic programs.

The socialization started with a recounting of the achievements of USU Chemical Engineering students in the Student Creativity Program (PKM) over the years, aimed at inspiring participants, particularly new students from the 2019 and 2020 cohorts. The keynote speaker then provided an overview of the PKM program and shared tips for success in PKM-PIMNAS. The session became even more engaging as Viqry shared his personal experience of winning the bronze medal at the 33rd PIMNAS.
The PKM Socialization continued with a talk show featuring Tubagus Rayyan Fitra Sinuhaji, a recipient of PKM-Research funding in 2020, and Aufa Nurul Khadijah, a bronze medalist in PKM-Entrepreneurship in 2020. The PKM Clinic is a flagship program of the Chemical Engineering Department, in collaboration with HIMATEK USU, designed to serve as a platform for enhancing students' intellectual and creative capabilities. It aims to boost USU students' achievements in PKM-PIMNAS and other prestigious competitions in the future.
