As part of the third day of FT USU 2026 PKKMB, the Faculty of Engineering USU involved new students in a tree-planting activity. The agenda was part of the orientation series that also introduced students to their responsibility toward the campus environment.

The activity was attended by new students and also by the Dean of FT USU, Prof. Dr. Ir. Renita Manurung, M.T.; Vice Dean for Education, Student Affairs, and Alumni Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Rosdanelli Hasibuan, M.T.; Vice Dean for Administration, Finance, Human Resources, and Academic Infrastructure, Ir. Muhammad Agung Putra Handana, S.T., M.T.; and Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalization, Zaid Perdana Nasution, S.T., M.T., Ph.D.

Tree planting places environmental issues in the form of direct activities, so that students not only receive an introduction conceptually but are also involved in actions related to environmental maintenance. This activity complements the environmental awareness agenda on the third day of PKKMB, which also included waste sorting.

Through this activity, new students were introduced to the importance of maintaining green spaces as part of campus life. The planting action also provides an opportunity to instill collective habits in caring for the environment and to connect student activities with the principles of sustainable development.

This activity primarily supports SDG 15 - Life on Land through tree planting actions and attention to green spaces. This activity is also relevant to SDG 13 - Climate Action through strengthening awareness of environmental actions and SDG 4 - Quality Education because it was carried out as part of the learning and orientation of new students. FT USU is committed to promoting a campus culture that cares about the environment, is participatory, and is oriented toward sustainability.
