Ir. Makmur Ginting, M.Sc, a lecturer at the Department of Civil Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), was featured as a guest speaker on Dialog Sumut, a national television program aired by Metro TV on August 27, 2019. He specializes in Water Resources Engineering and currently serves as the Head of the Hydraulics Laboratory at the Faculty of Engineering, USU. Also present during the dialogue was Roy Panagom Pardede, S.T., M.Tech., Head of the Sumatra River Region Office II (BWSS-II). Together, they discussed the critical topic of optimizing canal functions in urban water management.
The discussion, themed “Maximizing the Function of Canals,” addressed the importance of canals in flood prevention, irrigation systems, and environmental sustainability. Such collaborations between academic experts and government agencies aim to enhance public awareness and strengthen inter-sectoral partnerships in tackling water infrastructure issues.
