Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) is conducting data collection for prospective students of the 2026 Academic Year whose status in the National Socioeconomic Single Data (DTSEN) has changed. This initiative follows a directive from the Center for Higher Education Funding and Assessment of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology regarding the proposal of additional quotas for applicants whose KIP Kuliah eligibility status has changed in the 2026 National Higher Education Admission Selection (SNPMB).

The Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., explained that this data collection is intended for prospective students admitted through the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) and National Selection Based on Test (SNBT) pathways in 2026 who meet specific eligibility criteria.

“This data collection is a follow-up to the government’s policy regarding changes in DTSEN status. We encourage prospective students who meet the requirements to promptly confirm their information and complete the required documents according to the established schedule,” she stated.

Prospective USU students admitted through the 2026 SNBP and SNBT pathways may participate in this data collection if they meet the following criteria:

  • Have been admitted to Universitas Sumatera Utara through the 2026 SNBP or SNBT pathway and have completed new student registration in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Are registered applicants for the 2026 KIP Kuliah Program, possess an active account, and have completed the required documents on the KIP Kuliah portal.
  • Have a decile status of 1 to 4 in the National Socioeconomic Single Data (DTSEN), synchronized with their KIP Kuliah account.

Prospective students who meet these criteria are encouraged to promptly confirm their information and submit the required supporting documents. The required steps include:

  1. Completing online data confirmation through the university’s designated form.
  2. Uploading the following supporting documents:
    • 2026 KIP Kuliah Participant Card;
    • Proof of DTSEN decile status from the KIP Kuliah system account.
  3. Submitting all required documents no later than June 25, 2026, at 11:59 PM WIB.
  4. All submissions must be completed online, as physical document submissions will not be accepted.

Prof. Poppy emphasized that the collected data will serve as the basis for proposing additional quotas for prospective 2026 KIP Kuliah recipients to the Center for Higher Education Funding and Assessment under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology. However, the final determination of KIP Kuliah recipients remains entirely under the authority of the ministry.

“We would like to emphasize that this data collection is part of the process of proposing additional quotas for prospective KIP Kuliah recipients. The final selection and determination of KIP Kuliah recipients remain the sole authority of the Center for Higher Education Funding and Assessment of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology,” she explained.

Through this initiative, USU reaffirms its commitment to promoting inclusive and equitable access to higher education for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds while ensuring that the KIP Kuliah administrative process is implemented in accordance with applicable regulations.
