The Department of Chemical Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) convened a preparatory meeting for the Independent Accreditation Agency for Engineering (LAMTEK) accreditation process on Friday, 24 July 2026, at the department's meeting room. The meeting was attended by the Head of the Department, the Department Secretary, members of the accreditation committee, and faculty members responsible for compiling the accreditation documentation.

The meeting formed part of the department's comprehensive efforts to prepare for the LAMTEK accreditation process through document evaluation, data alignment, and cross-functional coordination in accordance with the applicable accreditation criteria. During the session, each criteria coordinator presented updates on the progress of document preparation, achievements to date, and areas requiring further attention to ensure that all supporting evidence meets the required quality standards.

In addition to reviewing documentation, the meeting served as a platform to establish a shared understanding among team members, strengthen coordination, and formulate strategies for the upcoming accreditation assessment. Through close collaboration among faculty members and the accreditation team, the Department of Chemical Engineering continues to enhance its academic governance, educational quality, research, community engagement, and student services as part of its commitment to continuous quality improvement.

The accreditation preparation aligns with the department's commitment to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The initiative contributes to SDG 4 (Quality Education) by strengthening quality assurance and promoting inclusive, high-quality, and sustainable higher education. It also supports SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) by reinforcing the institutional capacity of higher education as a center for scientific advancement, technological innovation, and knowledge development.
