Depok, 20–22 July 2026 – The Professional Engineer Program (PSPPI) of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) participated in the INSPIRE 2026 National Engineering Seminar and the 5th National Working Meeting of the Communication Forum of Professional Engineer Program Providers (FORKOM PPPI). Held at the InterDisciplinary Engineering (IDE) Auditorium, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia, Depok Campus, the event was represented by Ir. Nismah Panjaitan, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., IPU., and Prof. Dr. Ir. Fahmi, S.T., M.Sc., IPU.
The event was organized through a collaboration between FORKOM PPPI and the Professional Engineer Program of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia under the theme "Professional Engineers and Engineering Innovation." It served as a national platform for academics, industry practitioners, and Professional Engineer Program providers from universities across Indonesia to exchange knowledge and strengthen collaboration.
The program featured a series of activities, including a national seminar, panel discussions, paper presentations, parallel sessions, and the 5th FORKOM PPPI National Working Meeting. These sessions provided opportunities to discuss developments in engineering education, share experiences in program implementation, and strengthen institutional networks within Indonesia's professional engineering community.
For the Professional Engineer Program of the Faculty of Engineering, USU, participation in this national forum offered valuable opportunities to gain new perspectives, expand collaboration with fellow program providers, and identify best practices that can support the continuous development of professional engineering education. The long-term benefits of the forum will depend on the outcomes of the discussions and the implementation of follow-up initiatives after the event.
This initiative primarily supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education by promoting knowledge exchange and strengthening the capacity of professional engineering education providers. It also contributes to SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure through its emphasis on engineering innovation, while supporting SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by fostering collaboration and institutional networking among universities and professional organizations.
The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara, remains committed to advancing professional engineering education that is responsive to the needs of society and industry. Through active participation in academic and professional forums, the faculty continues to strengthen engineering education, promote innovation, and expand collaborative partnerships that contribute to sustainable development.
