Students from the Undergraduate Program in Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FT USU), who are members of the USU SI-LUDOVIC Team, participated in the 2026 Indonesian Flying Robot Contest (KRTI) Regional Selection. The event was held at Soewondo Air Force Base on August 13, 2026.
The USU SI-LUDOVIC Team is a research team from the Sikonek Robotics Student Activity Unit (UKM Robotik Sikonek USU) that focuses on developing Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) technology. Participation in the regional selection is one of the stages in determining which teams will advance to the national-level competition, scheduled to be held in the Nusantara Capital City at the end of September 2026.

In the selection, the SI-LUDOVIC Team competed in five divisions: Racing Plane, Vertical Take Off and Landing, Fixed Wing, Long Endurance Low Altitude, and Technology Development. Participation across these divisions provided students with opportunities to test different vehicle characteristics and technological approaches according to the requirements of each category.
The activity primarily supports SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure through the development and testing of UAV technology by a student research team. Its additional relevance to SDG 4: Quality Education is reflected in the application of engineering knowledge through competitive activities that support students’ learning experiences and competency development.

Through student involvement in UAV development and KRTI 2026, FT USU reaffirms its commitment to promoting research-based education, innovation, and technology application. The faculty continues to support learning opportunities that enable students to develop engineering solutions and sustainably contribute to technological advancement.
