On Tuesday, 6 January 2026, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara, received a visit from Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Irvan, M.Si., together with Kanta Kudo, a student from Toyohashi University of Technology (TUT), Japan. This visit was conducted in the context of implementing a Research Internship Program at the Ecology Laboratory, Chemical Engineering Study Program, which will take place for a duration of two months.

This research internship program aims to realize the implementation of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the Laboratory of Resource Recycling Engineering, TUT (Japan), and the Ecology Laboratory, USU (Indonesia). This collaboration forms part of the effort to strengthen academic and international research cooperation between the two institutions.

TUT has consistently sent its students to the Faculty of Engineering USU to undertake research internships at the Ecology Laboratory of FT USU since 2010 up to the present. The TUT students who have participated in the internship program are as follows:
