USU Mechanical Engineering hosted a World Class Guest Lecturer on November 1, 2021, featuring Ts. Dr. Muhd Ridzuan bin Mansor from Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka. The event highlighted the importance of TRIZ in solving problems creatively in engineering.

On Monday, November 1, 2021, the World Class Guest Lecturer event with the theme Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TRIZ) was conducted, presented by Ts. Dr. Muhd Ridzuan bin Mansor from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka. During the event, Ts. Dr. Muhd Ridzuan bin Mansor emphasized the significance of TRIZ in the engineering field.


The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Ir. Bustami Syam, MSME, Ir. Syahrul Abda, M.Sc., Dr. Ing. Ikhwansyah Isranuri, Dr. Ir. M. Sabri, M.T., IPM, ASEAN Eng., and A. Yunus Nasution, S.T., M.T., who are lecturers specializing in the Maintenance sub-field at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara.


TRIZ, which stands for the "Theory of Inventive Problem Solving," is essentially the next evolutionary step in creating an organized and systematic approach to problem-solving. Today, TRIZ is regarded as the most comprehensive innovation technology, a systematically organized science of invention, and a methodology for creative thinking known to humanity.

Compared to traditional innovation methods, TRIZ offers several advantages, including:

  • Enhancing the market through creative productivity.
  • Researching to quickly generate inventive and innovative solutions.
  • A scientific approach to predicting the evolution of technological systems, products, and processes.
