Aspiring entrepreneurs with groundbreaking circular economy business ideas are invited to compete in a program hosted by Universitas Sumatera Utara, in collaboration with the US-ASEAN Smart City Partnership (USASCP) and Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). The three winning teams will receive seed funding and expert-led incubation from RIT and USU to bring their ventures to life.

Circular Economy Entrepreneurship Business Pitch Competition 2025

The Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) - USA, in collaboration with Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) and the US-ASEAN Smart City Partnership (USACP), proudly presents the Circular Economy Entrepreneurship Business Pitch Competition 2025. This competition is designed to enhance participants' innovative skills in creating business ideas that support circular economy principles.

The top three teams with the most outstanding business concepts will receive seed funding of USD 5000 per team. Additionally, they will participate in an intensive three-month mentoring program guided by experts from RIT and USU.

 

What is a Circular Economy?

The circular economy is a business approach that focuses on efficient and sustainable resource utilization, minimizing waste, and encouraging innovation. If you have a relevant business idea, this is your chance to shine on an international stage!

 

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Participants must be Indonesian citizens (WNI) from various backgrounds (lecturers, students, entrepreneurs).

  • Teams must consist of at least two members, with one member having completed a circular economy course or workshop.*

  • Business ideas must focus on circular economy principles.

  • Proposed businesses can be in the idea stage, early start-up stage, or already operational.

  • The business implementation location must be in Indonesia.

  • The competition will be conducted in English during stages II and III.

 

Selection Stages:

  1. Online Selection (Stage I):
    Registration deadline: January 25, 2025. Interested teams can fill out the online registration form by scanning the QR Code provided.

  2. Workshop and Video Pitching (Stage II):
    A total of 40 selected teams will attend a circular economy workshop* and submit a business idea promotion video with a maximum duration of 5 minutes.
    Deadline: February 15, 2025.

  3. Final Presentation (Stage III):
    The top 20 teams will present their business proposals at the International Symposium on Circular Economy 2025, to be held at Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan, on March 3–4, 2025.
