Roadmap

The Research Roadmap of the Architecture Study Program, Universitas Sumatera Utara (2021–2025) focuses on advancing architectural knowledge rooted in local wisdom, sustainability, and relevance to urban and environmental issues. Research areas include studies of traditional and colonial architecture, urban quality and green behavior, small-to-medium scale ecological housing, smart cities, and zero energy buildings. The roadmap also emphasizes urban quality of life, place identity, sustainable tourism, and design approaches responsive to disasters and social change. Through a multidisciplinary perspective, it aims to produce innovative and contextual theories, models, and architectural solutions for North Sumatra and Indonesia as a whole.
