Amir Husin was born in Sigalangan, South Tapanuli, North Sumatra on February 15, 1969. He is a lecturer in the discipline of Wastewater treatment at the Universitas Sumatera Utara. In 2015, he received his doctorate from the Faculty of Engineering, Chemical Engineering Study Program at Gadjah Mada University (UGM).
